Mission Statement

St. Mary’s Academy’s mission is to educate children both academically and spiritually in the Catholic Christian tradition. In a warm family atmosphere where faculty and staff model “teaching as Jesus did,” each child will be nurtured to reach his/her God-given potential and to live out Gospel values in one global family.

Our Philosophy

St. Mary’s Academy exists to educate children academically and spiritually in the Catholic tradition, to instill Godliness, strong morals and values, and the habits and self-discipline necessary to become all God calls each person to be. We strive through the Diocesan Curriculum and New York State Standards to provide a well-rounded curriculum which instills a life-long love of learning, and a strong sense of caring, compassion, and faith in their daily living. Daily prayer and religious instruction, prayer services, and the celebration of the liturgy and Sacrament of Reconciliation teach them to honor the presence of God and to grow in friendship with Him. Giving to the Missions, sponsoring a child through World Vision, and doing Christmas shoeboxes for poor children create awareness of those less fortunate in the family of our God.

Faculty/staff are role models of Christ-like living, loving and praying for each child, and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, kindness, and healthy self-respect. They accept the challenge presented by the varying levels of learning ability, strengths and weaknesses, motivation, family stability, and socio-economic background, seeing the God-given dignity in each child and working to develop their full potential spiritually, physically, academically, and emotionally.

Parents are acknowledged as the primary educators of the child and partners in the educational process. Parents are warmly welcomed, kept informed of their children’s progress and needs, encouraged, and respected.
